First post on this forum - Female Cardinal

Although I'm active on a couple other wildlife forums, this is my first post here. I'm always looking for critiques and ponters to improve my work, so don't be timid or shy. While the female cardinal isn't nearly as vivid as the male, I find that they are much more timid, and harder to get close enough to for decent shots. I have posted the links to the originals just below each, so that the detail in each can be viewed. I find that the size limitations in forums sometimes eliminates the photographers intended shot. These were taken this morning in the preserve behind my house:

Welcome Bob, great shots! I happen to like seeing female cardinals more than the males, and you are very correct about them being timid.

What lens are you using? Your images really are very good.

Thanks for the comments. These were taken with my Canon 1DsMII, and the Canon 100-400L @ 320mm. Both were f/10, pattern metering, ISO 640, 1/500 on the first, and 1/320 on the second.

They were off tripod. Not much PP at all, just crop and light NR.
