Nice shot Knight. I know where there are a pair of these guys near here but I have yet to make the time to get over there and wait them out.

Incidentally... have you ever tried eating the berries off the Sumach like this woodpecker is doing? They taste kind of like Lemonade. My wife was going to be a forest ranger and they taught her that in school. Another bit of useless trivia lol.

Wow! What a nice out-in-the-open shot of a PWP! I can't remember the last time I saw one in the sun like that. Great catch.

Great shot. That bird is certainly on my to shoot list. Unfortunately, they are very rare around here. Actually, I've never seen one around here, but a couple birders I've talked to have.

My dad had a nice large suet feeder that attracted one to our yard for a season. That thing was huge. I was talking to someone about them the other day and he pronounced the name kinda weird. I was then later informed over Christmas by Uncle (who's a huge birder) that there are two proper pronunciations of the name.

    Nice shot though!

Very nice shot, I tried for one of those a few weeks ago and had to give up. It wouldn't let me close...
