film, anybody still use it ?

maybe this isn't the right forum to post this but I'm giving it a try. I have a lot of film, mostly slide and a few rolls of Agfa Ultra 50 and 100 in my basement freezer most of it is outdated by 6 years or more but it has been frozen since purchased. I asked at my local Walmart if Fuji where they send out film to still develops slide, they called and were told yes but it takes 2-3 weeks. I took a roll out of the freezer and might give it a try tomorrow, just wondering if any one here still use film and if so any recommendations on where to process. I'm in NJ but I'm willing to do mail order.

    Thanks for any help,
    Mike

I'm like you and have a bunch of film sitting in my freezer... I do pull out a couple rolls every now and then just for the fun of it. I have dropped E-6 film off at Wal-mart before and I thought it looked pretty good. I don't remember the wait being that long though, but it's been a couple years so things could have changed.

Photo Craft Imaging is a good quality lab that I have used in the past and have been very happy with. Their prices seem to be a bit higher than I remember but again, it's been a while since I used them.

Dwayne's Photo is another good lab and they are less expensive than Photo Craft.

Here is a link from the Film Forum that has a bunch of other labs that you may want to check out.

I have used Walmart they send it out and the price was always good. I just had the film developed with no prints, I scanned them myself. Yes two weeks turn around depending on what day you turn them in, negatives were picked up on the same day every week. Tuesday in my case.

I bought three rolls this week. It is my way of saying goodbye to an era and my AE1s.With my aging eyes I can no longer focus the AE1 but I loaded a roll anyway.Over the years I've only kept about 1 out of every 40 pictures I took. As I familiarize myself with my dslrs, film seems so wasteful that I don't know if I'll even finish the roll. I'm beginning to really appreciate the cost free disposal of dslr pictures that don't turn out as hoped. As I review the photos posted here I am finally convinced that digital cameras are superior to film. I'm also convinced that todays superzooms produce better results than my fixed length relics. The process of parting with film and my AE1s has been long and painful.

This Saturday I will be joining a local camera club for a river valley walkabout. The only camera I will be taking with me will be my Canon Digital Rebel 6.1 with Tamron 28-300.I bought it used about 2 years ago to familiarize myself with dslrs. My loyalty to the AE1s was so deep that it took me till now to actually use the digital Rebel. Saturdays walkabout will be my first with a digital.
