    Fill flash practice

The wife went to see her extended family today, and I opted to go birding. Our daughters' families were here yesterday and one get together is enough.

Anyway, the skies were gloomy today, so I thought it would be a good day to have some practice with my flash.

Normally, I'd prefer to have a bird posing in a tree, but with the gray skies I was glad to find the Flicker in the grass. The last Flicker shot is just to show you the shape of the red marking.

That last Flicker is why I like to see more than the traditional single view in bird illustrations.
I wish there was a site that had photos of birds from many angles, and in different plumages.
Rather than the usual bird-on-a-stick portraits.
Oh and one that showed the females and juveniles too, as well as the males.

Exellent work. If I had to pict a favorite it would be #1 but they all are super.

When using a fill flash do you have to stick to the 1/60th SS?

Great shots Mike, that last flicker shot is definitely a beauty. I like the different angle on it.
