    a few from today's walk

All hand held, I got lazy today and tried out the shake reduction rather than carrying my tripod.

A catbird - which is a first for me....

    Anyone ID this...?

I knew this would give me a silhouette when I shot it. Post processed to B&W.

Ty Paul. I was very pleased to see a hawk when I actually had my camera with me. On my daily drives I see them often but all I have to do is put a camera in the car for them to become scarce....

scott-devon and paulnj, FYI, the Swainson's are quite common across Canada's southern prairies and make a significant contribution to maintaining the gopher population at lower levels. I went for a drive on Sunday to north and west of the city and saw at least five of them.
This one looks like a variant known as a Light adult.

    Cheers,

They play the same roll that redtailed hawks play here with our rabbit, squirrel and other small mammal population control I guess. Great to here of a raptor population doing good, so thanks for the info.
