    A few from today

The tips I've been reading on here are helping a lot and I'm more and more pleased with my shots. Still lots of room to improve of course so feel free to comment.

    Re: A few from today

It's a nice series. One thing I have learned recently is that we never see our own photos the way others do. Some of the things we hate most, others love, it's something we have to learn to get over.

One important question I always ask myself after an outing is 'did I enjoy the day', then I look at the photos. If you enjoyed the day, just keep working at it, and you'll get what you want.

I do see your imporovement, looking good.

I agree! Having fun taking the image is very important!

The last one (chipmunk?) looks a bit tight on the framing, but it's still a very nice image.

You are right on the framing Paul. I shot through some bush for that one and had to crop heavily on the left to get rid of a blurred twig that had been near the lens and left that side of the shot greyed out.

I really really like the first one! The pose and square framing are excellent. It just needs some adjustments in post processing to make look more natural. Mind if I play around with it?

I agree, having a great day out photographing subjects is just as important as a good image.

Your images are great and i especially like the1st image and the lone leaf, "we cant please everyone all the time, but if we can please ourselves most of the time we are onto a winner with the photography"!! .

    Re: A few from today

I've finished the P.P. but don't want to post it without your permission.

It was difficult because the lower portion of the image (#1) has far less contrast than the middle/top. Did you have significant lens flare from the sun striking your front lens element? I can't think what else would cause that.

OK, Scott - here it is.

Just took out a lot of magenta from the mid-tones and blues from the shadows. Bumped up the contrast and overall brightness slightly.

    What do you think?

    Re: A few from today

looks like a great PP job...the second image is good as is, but I think it could really be striking with a little un-naturalness; I've seen some really outstanding "paint with light" photoshop actions that might work well here.

Wow, Loupey the difference is night and day! I can see I'll have to learn more about post processing as well. I use Photoshop Elements, time to start reading some of the how to's.

    Re: A few from today

I've taken a lot of squirrel shots. A few of them have been good enough to be published in magazines, and I've even had one on a cover, but I think this shot is as good as any I've ever taken, and better than the majority I've considered good enough to save. Excellent!

Thanks Ron, I was surprized to see this post pop up again. I think Loupey's adjustments really made this photo, I learned a lot from that.

It is a very good photograph. Im glad it came back up since I missed it before.

I wish when others offer to tweak a photo they would give a brief list of what was done and possibly why. A lot more learning would take place.
