    A few Herons

Standing guard on the rocks , looking for a fish to catch

    Flying low

About to land on a tree, sun hitting the bird from above producing the effect of translucent wings, I'm standing in the shade of the tree.

A young heron, sharing space with a duck

    Dinner !!

All images are crops of the originals, plus some PP

    Re: A few Herons

    Thanks for the comments !

About that low flying photo, I was considering it for a while whether to include it or not,
I do like the image , but I have my doubts about the image quality.
The crop is quite aggressive to get it show at a decent size
the head and neck are not as sharp as I would like them to be

The bird is flying almost into the sun causing a bright edge at the front of the neck, which with the aggressive crop almost look like over sharpening.

Glad it is digital and not film, the comment at the bottom of Old Timer posts fits perfectly for the session when I shot this birds
