    Female Cardinal.

Birds have been really scarce around here, this winter. I set my photo blind up at a friends house down the street, but almost every day, if it's not already cloudy, the clouds roll in by 3:00. Unfortunately, I need the afternoon light, based on where my blind is set up. Of course, by the time this gal presented herself properly, the clouds had arrived.

This winter is really getting long and depressing. Snow, snow and more snow. Then, below zero temps with winds gusting to near 50 mph. When will it all end? :cryin:

Yeah, winter kinda sucks for a nature photographer. It could be worse, you could be a macro nature photographer One reason why I started shooting birds

Hang in there. Warmer days, brighter colors, and greener trees are right around the corner.

I'll bet the birds are thinking the same thing.

Ah yes, but think. There is less than two and half months until Spring arrives. Small consolation when there is 25 - 30 cm. of snow on the ground and the only birds around are magpies, crows and some sparrows, and they run (scatter) like crazy when there is even a hint of a person around, let alone with a camera!!

Beautiful shot Mike, I like the subtle colours on the female. Had enough of winter up here too but...still lots to go.
