    Fall warblers

A few weeks ago I was at the local state park again and saw, for the first time in this area, a black-and-white warbler. I wasn't able to get as close as I wanted to so here are the best shots I have:

I think its a female, according to what my bird guide shows, b/c the male has more black along the face and throat than this one has.

Pretty bird! Yeah, I haven't been able to get as close to small birds as I would like either. For that matter, big birds too!

    Thanks for sharing these, Quetzal!

    What's a Loupe for anyway?

Yeah Loupey, they're definitely a challenge aren't they? Most of the real close-up shots I've gotten so far are of feeder birds. Its fun taking pics at my feeders but overall I enjoy taking shots of them in a more natural setting.

That is indeed a female Here's a tip for B&W warblers...

They are very active feeders , so watch for the direction they are feeding in and slowly stalk them. With practice anyone with 300mm can get a full frame shot early in the day(as in 8-10am)

    Thanks Bev!
Paul - Yes she certainly was active. These shots were taken mid to late afternoon, and she kept moving back and forth from tree to tree for a little while. I still need alot of practice in bird-stalking with a camera. Thanks for the tip.

    Re: Fall warblers

mid day the sun heat them up and they seem to flit around more of stay in shady areas. As the sun comes up and hits the trees the insects start to move around, that is when the warblers are easiest to find, see and photograph
