i caugh this scrubjay at lyonia preserve. I was sitting on a bench enjoying this family group of scrubbies. When this one flew right beside me and started plucking the larvae out of this hive. Sometimne you just get kucky

Sandpipers confuse me. The differences are so small sometimes! This one confuses me by the lack of throat markings. Maybe a juvenile? I'm thinking Western or Semipalmated because of black beak and legs, but the pics I find are all still darker on the back, for the most part. Florida panhanlde if the location matters.
my book says the least sandpiper lacks black legs. So not that one
i guessing on the semipalmated sandpiper from what I've read the western has a drooping beak at the end and this bird doesnt appear to have that. That seems to be the big difference between them .
