was thinking/hoping the third bird was a Philadelphia Vireo. I didn't get very good pictures of it but my thought while taking its picture was it was some type of Vireo. Here's another a little more from the side.

wish I had a better photo, sorry to hear about your back. I had a disc go ten years ago my back hasn't been the same since. I would have staid out longer yesterday but my back was hurting, some days are better than others.

wasn't raining this morning and the mosquitos weren't too bad and there were even a few birds around.

It's the same bird, same day, same period, different angles, different light.

    Re: FALL 2011 Bird ID

odds would say it's a brown headed cowbird and the shiny cowbird is far too rare for me to differenciate from one.

Any chance that it's a female brewer's blackbird?

If it's a cowbird, is it a juvenile?

By the way, it made a one note call when I was there. The photos were short within an hour or so before sunset.

    I have to say no.

I have attached more images for your reference:

    FALL 2011 Bird ID-id-1-_7944.jpg

    FALL 2011 Bird ID-id-2-7898.jpg

    FALL 2011 Bird ID-id-3_7873.jpg

    FALL 2011 Bird ID-id-4-7913.jpg

    FALL 2011 Bird ID-id-5_7925.jpg

They are straight from the camera 100% crop from raw files BTW and re-sized to meet the posting requirement here.

As I have half of the people telling me it's a cowbird and the other half say it's a female brewer's blackbird, so I went listen to this recording:

    Brewer's Blackbird - Whatbird.com

I have to say what I heard sounds like a part of what's in that recording (I only heard something like a "doo" and nothing more from that bird). Also the female brewer's blackbird photo on that page looks like mine. So I think at this point I'm leaning towards it's a brewer's.

    NOT MY IMAGE.

Northeastern Illinois. ID on this little one? Junco like, but they usually have a more deffinate division between the white and gray on the chest. I see them scratching around on the ground like a Junco.
