face of a sow bug (photo)

    Hi all,

I posted this photo on my blog last night--a highly magnified picture of a common sow bug or woodlouse (order Isopoda).—along with a brief explanation of how I did it.

More discussion will follow in the next couple of posts...but this was just so cool I had to share it!

    Cheers

    Well done - really nice.

What lens was used for this image? I realize you stacked images, but what lens was used?

    Thank you!

I used a Zuiko (Olympus) 50 mm F1.8 lens (reversed) on an Olympus Autobellows at full extention. I have had the bellows and lens for close to 25 years and used an Olympus made adapter to attach my modern Olympus E-620 body to it.

I should be posting another stacked image on my blog tomorrow. I am not real thrilled with the resolution I am getting though. Not sure if its the lens or something else...

    Cheers,

Thank you! As a matter of fact, sow bugs are actually terrestrial crustaceans. Most crustaceans do live underwater!
