    Ewe's and Yearlings (Image heavy)

The Bighorn Sheep girls really don't like the boys being around this time of year.

Bob, these are some nice detailed shots! Do you get another camera or did you get your D80 working? Jeff

    Hi Jeff,
Thank you for the kind words. I think I enjoy sharing my photos as much as taking them.
I did replace the camera body. The D80 light meter being out of cal by 2-4 EV was driving me crazy. Being retired, photography is one of my favorite hobbies and I just need a camera that works.

I read somewhere that if your pictures aren't sharp you aren't close enough.
Well, I am learning that the hard way.
These picts are as close as you can get. The Bighorn sheep in this canyon have no fear of man. You can walk right up to them.
Most of these shots were taken at 3-6 feet using the 70-300VR lens.

Nice! So they won't attack people either? Are people feeding them or something? Sorry... just curious because most wildlife are affraid of people.

I don't mine the questions at all.
To my knowledge no one feeds them. This canyon is in Pike National Forest (Section 1 Colorado Trail) and there are no hunting signs that look like they have been there for the last 30+ years.
I am guessing they have no fear of man because man has never gave them a reason.

In the fall you can sit on this trail and watch the rut. There are 6 males that service this herd of Ewe's the entire herd is about 35.

Thanks! Very cool indeed. I can just hear their hooves clicking on the rock as they climb around.

I remember being in Yellowstone and seeing a ton of big horn ewes on Mount Washbourn. Cool animals, great shots
