Evening feeding, Baby Owls (image heavy)

These shots were take last night between 6:30 and 7:30PM.
I have never tried nighttime shooting before. I still have a lot to learn, but it was fun.
It was actually darker than the pictures look. I was using the spot meter on the nest and that made the sky brighter.

300mm f4 on tripod with shutter release.

The first picture is not showing (just a red x in a box) 01Owl.jpg
Congrats on getting these! I looked around all night last Friday night at work and could not see/hear any owls, so as of yet I have not seen an Owl in the wild.

    Hi Kristine,
Thanks for your comments and letting me know about photo 1.
I think I fixed it. If the red box is still showing up please try F5 to refresh images.

Hey Bob, I love the feeding pictures. That's not something you see everyday! If only mama owl would have been looking at you in #2, it would have been perfect. Did you change settings between #3 and #4, or was there a long time lapse? Nonetheless, it is a nice series of something most people will never see. Great job.

    Hi Ken,
Thank you for taking the time to post a comment. I was beginning to think I had done something wrong.

There was about 15 minute between shot 3 and 4 the sun had totally set .
All the evening gold had left the sky, everything was blue and gray.

While waiting for Mom to return or Dad to show up I had taken several test shots and viewed them on the cameras monitor for the correct exposure.

In the last shots I had the camera pumped to the max ISO 6400. The camera actually captured details I could not see with my naked eye.

I hope to go back in about week to record how much they have grown.
I probably won't post pictures since this subject doesn't seem to attract much interest.

These are wonderful shots, you did a great job capturing these in tough and unfamiliar conditions. Thanks for sharing them.
