Knight, thanks! I figured I should slip these in-flight shots while Bev is on vacation

Paul, I look forward to seeing your results. It has been raining non-stop here for the past 5 days (thus, these washed out backgrounds except for that patch of blue that showed up yesterday afternoon in the last shot). I miss seeing the insects.

Does that mean I can't post my seagulls, ducks, and swans(goose) anymore?

I guess it is time for a new subject.....

I'm just starting out with birding as you know.....can you provide some techincal specs on these and what lens did you use?

    These are great shots. Thanks!

    Keep those images coming!

Sorry loupy, but the RWBB 's were in a swamp and I don't swim well with a camera ;) This rain is filling in every semi wet area around!

    QUOTE]

Personally, I think I've overdone the RWB thing. I been teaching myself how to shoot in-flight pictures and the only cooperative subject has been these two pairs. I'll keep practicing on them but probably won't post any more as I don't want to bore anyone.

As for the specs: All are with the 70-200 f/2.8 IS, Canon 10D, manual metering, manual focusing

    The 1st and 4th are using the 2x II TC, ISO 200, 1/250s, f/8

    The 2nd and 3rd are without the converter, ISO 400, 1/750s, f/5.6

The 1st one was the only in-flight one I was going to show at the 1/250s setting. At this range and bird speed, 1/500 was the minimum acceptable speed.

For demonstation purposes ONLY, this one is a typical unacceptable result using the 1/250s.
