I assume it's a little cleverer than that, and looks for small fish near the surface like diving terns do. But its catching method is different, using that longer lower bill.

Great shots on the fishing action - I always thought these birds were unique to Africa!!!!!!! - how mistaken can one br. Here are two shots of the African variety - one showing the lower clavicle used for the skim.
