Eastern Meadowlark and a stack of Grasshoppers.

I realized I hadn't put any new stuff up lately (shame on me). I've been working the Wood Storks quite heavily, and I've set a goal for myself this season to capture as many Endangered and hard to photograph species as I can in an artistic view. Not always an easy thing to do! I've captured many Wood Storks so far, but none have that real "WOW" factor that I'm after. They're all just nice, environmantal images so far. I will put a seriest together tomorrow or Sunday and post it. That said, I always get "opportunity" shots of different species that are out there. These images are from today.

    Eastern Meadowlark:

Not sure what to make of these two. Very strange behavior, and I don't think it was reproductive (although the one on top seems to be sweating!). These are huge grasshoppers.

We used to have tons of Meadowlarks around here. We don't see that many anymore. I think they all headed to Florida.

eastern meadowlarks need vast open grasslands to nest and are in decline in many states due to urban development. Great images you have here
