    Downy Woodpecker

Was wandering the trail in my local state park when I heard the distinctive tok-tok-tok-tok sound of a woodpecker at work. Backtracked, looked up and around, finally found him. I actually followed him long enough to shoot 167 frames! Most had something blocking him, not a good view, not the whole bird, you all know how it works. He was about 15 feet up the tree, I had to keep moving around to keep him in view from the ground.

My first day out with mny D7000, and upgrade from the D5000 I've been using up to now.

Here I caught his eyelid half open. I guess they blink when they whack the tree?

This one and the previous one used the on-camera flash. The last 2 are natural light.
