    Curlew

I found this Long-billed curlew yesterday out on the mud flats searching for something to eat. I think this is such an interesting bird and can't ever resist taking a picture when I find one.

When I was young, I had a book called: "The Ice-Cream Cone Coot and Other Rare Birds." It was filled with fantasmagorical made up birds comprised of various household and other objects. One of them looked a like like the curlew here.

There is something about cuwlews and godwits that always gets me pumped too. I think it is that cool bill and the way they use it ;)

Unfortunately, when I see them they are 200 feet away in a NWR . I need to start digiscoping to get closer ;)
