Unhappy Coyote and Hawk... What a Rookie

    I am so bummed
For weeks I have been hunting the Wyle Coyote and when I saw this coyote hunting mice, and then noticed the hawk pouncing on the mice the coyote was stirring up.
I got so excited I just started shooting. Paying no attention to my camera settings or even giving the camera time to focus.

    Rookie Rookie Rookie.

When I finely calmed down....after being spotted...I gave the camera a chance to focus.

Neat series, and heck I'd have done the same.

    Hi Scott and Loupey,
    Thanks for the kind words.
My heart was pounding, hands were shaking. It was very cool to witness these two predators having dinner. My approach went unnoticed for 4-5 minutes.

I have got to learn to settle down when my subjects finely come into the viewfinder.

I totally understand. We all still get very excited when we come across a "hell yeah!" shot.

Let your practice come together to allow you to focus on the subject.

    Nice pun, eh?

Oh man! I feel for you. That was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity on what I consider the most difficult outdoor photographic challenge.
Maybe you can salvage, or at least improve, them with some PP creativity?

I realize there isn't a lot you can do to correct focus. Maybe a B/W conversion? These shots are just to rare and unique to give up on them.

    Hi Ron,
I do have about 30 shots [in RAW] of these guys. I just picked a few to share my story.
I will have to play with them in PS7 to see if I can clean them up.

If anyone has a suggestion or two on how these could be improved with PP I could use a lesson.

Thanks again everyone. I am glad you enjoyed the story and photos.

Try taking them into PS 7 and hit "auto smart fix."

Its different for pro's who are trying to get paid but from an amateur perspective the way I look at it is that its a rare treat to be able to see and be close to the wild animals and if I manage to get some good shots of them then that's a bonus.
If you were not a photographer and did not have a camera then you would be raving about your experience 100% positive would you not ?
Thanks for sharing your experience Bob.
