    Couple hawk pics :)

Hi all...I'm posting here very sporadically these days, but I had a good "hawk" day, so to speak!

The blurrier shot, I think, is a red-shouldered hawk?

I really like the second one.

What gear did you use? (Camera & lens?) How far were you from the hawk? Is this full frame or cropped? Just wondering how you got such a great shot.

    Re: Couple hawk pics :)

Thanks! I use a canon rebel, and I have a quantaray 70-300mm lens that I like for the bird pics.

My back deck is really convenient for bird watching anyhow, but occasionally I see a hawk or two swooping around. This one landed in a tree about 15 feet from me, and I got a couple others of him...and would have LOVED to have gotten a better flight picture, but he sort of flew right AT me, and I clicked and shrieked...so you can guess how that one came out...heh.
Anyhow, as far as cropping...I always crop in a smidge because I'm ocd about it...lol! But this one was only cropped in a bit to get rid of some of the leaves and such.

Cool! Good to know on both. I have a couple Cooper's hawks that visit my backyard pretty frequently.

Nothing wrong with that! I have a Quantaray 70-300mm as well. The wife bought it for me the Christmas she bought me the N80. It is a great lens, and an exceptional value for the money.

    :-)

Great shots, and I envy you having the birds come to you!
