    What kind of turtle is that? Looks too dark for wood turtle and box turtle.

    It's definitely a box turtle. A dark one, but a box turtle none-the-less.

    the snapping and box turtle are so different visually, my guess is erik might have thought you said it as a joke. on the internet its really hard to tell sometimes, especially for someone who has been around and knows the subjects for as long as erik has, it makes it such a simple ID and sometimes you don't realize that some people can't tell the difference. i know i personally get frustraded when people can't even say the "lizard" they saw was orangish brown.... not red, for eastern newts (happens all the time).

    it is indeed a dark box turtle, darker than ive ever seen.
