Couldn't Resist! Back to Old Habits

I told myself I should be following through with my wide-angle concept but I found myself driving by my old park this afternoon that has that small cluster of butterfly bushes. I had my 300mm along, the sun was at the right angle.... well, you get the picture

No tricks this time (no teleconverters, no extension tubes) so I was able to shoot at a reasonably low ISO of 200 (would have preferred 100) while keeping the shutter pegged at 1/1000s. Aperture was at f/5.6 and f/6.7 as we had some light clouds between the sunshine. Based on these images, the hummingbird moth appears to have wingbeats faster than the real thing.

Still haven't got a good one of the monarchs. They are around but they fly more erratically than anything else I've tried to shoot. Even 1/1000s is too slow for them. May have to use the 70-200 to get them before the season is out.
