    Cicadas have arrived: icebreakers

Chicagoland was warned: this year marks the hatch of the 17 year cicadas, which emerge from the ground for a few weeks only once in a great while. These are smaller cicadas than the ones I see every year or two, and have the most amazing coloration. I'm pretty excited for the next couple of weeks. These are the icebreaker shots, I have to work on that whole depth-of-field should encompass the whole critter thing

Also, Sorry for the recent lapse in postings, I've been working 60-65 hours a week and I drive my bride to and from work and grad school daily so I've been lacking in the free time department. with any luck that will clear up soon. Enjoy!

They emerge from their grub shells or perish, as this one did.

You'll find them hanging out on trees.

or whatever else they can land on.

These are such cool looking bugs! I'm hoping go find some this weekend. Have you eaten any of them yet? I won't be eating any of them, but I know there are places in Chicago that are serving them in their resturants.

    Nice icebreakers!

I love the first image - I've been trying to time one like that too. Nice work!

Ugly creatures, but they sure made for some great images.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
