    Chicago snakes

the combination of being out of work for six weeks, not being paid for another 6 weeks of work, and having only 1 gb of HDD space left had me grounded from photography for most of the year, but I've upgraded both job and computer so I'm gradually finding time to get out and shoot. Included are some dupage county, IL snakes found on tuesday. Nothing exceptional, but the brown snake shots are cool because they are in-situ - a rare opportunity when we are talking about brown snakes, traditionally reclusive and fossorial.

a queen snake. they live under heavy rocks. I hurt today. I'd love to find a bigger one so I can take a shot with running water, background and snake. Unfortunately I can't seem to find them longer than four inches.

a baby northern watersnake. They turn brown and drab with age.

Brown snake as found, making her way across the stream.

more as the season progresses, including a trip to southern illinois (fingers crossed)

I like the shallow DOF on some of the shots. 1, 2, and 3 and sweet!
