    Cellulose

While doing yardwork with the kids, my daughter exclaimed "what's that?!" I immediately thought it was a thin film of aged plastic but then realized it was a perfectly decaying leaf (a muhlberry leaf I believe) that has been nearly completely dissolved away.

Extremely fragile and the color/transparency of a small swatch of pantyhose that has been stretched tight, I decided I had to bring it in to try to photograph it under more controlled conditions.

I'm not completely satisfied but here it is. Trying to think of how else to communicate the size and fragility of this leaf. May have to post a follow up later.
