Caught this guy mid-song on a cold, rainy day in Arizona.

I guess I see where it gets it's name, it doesn't seem to mind the thorns one bit.

Looks kind of like it just left the "all you can eat" buffet.

Having spent very little time in the desert or around cactus, I was amazed how the birds I saw in AZ negotiated the thorns and needles without hesitation. This guy was fluffed up against the cold that day, but it did give him a rather comical appearance!
