while I was taking pictures of the beautiful flowers on campus I spotted a bee hehe. CRITIQUE!!! let me know what you think!!!

Although these are nice test shots to evaluate your equipment, they show us a couple things:

1) your critical focusing is off. Generally you want the plane of focus to cut right across the eyes of your subject and your images show that that plane is a few millimeters in front of that.

2) the shot is too wide. Don't know if you can get any closer but these images, as they are, show too much of the surroundings which doesn't contribute to the shot.

3) the colors are off on my monitor. Appears to have too much blue, cyan, and magenta (first three images).


Work out the technical issues first (focusing, DOF, post processing) which you appear to be doing. Then you can focus on the "artistic" side later (lighting, action, background, etc).

I see what you mean on the critical focusing which makes total sense.

In order to cut the surrounding, I tried to get closer but I couldn't(i forgot to bring my monopod) anyways...would I just do the cropping in ps?

and I don't know about the colors being off. It could be the bits of gravel since it is concrete. thanks for the critique!!!! they helped me ALOT.
