Butterfly Exhibit

As much as I don't like shooting captive butterflies or crowds, I decided to try it today.

Our local conservatory started the annual Blooms and Butterflies exhibit yesterday (Saturday) and it will run for the next 5 1/2 months. I knew the crowds would be large so I took my 300mm and a pocket full of extension tubes and off we went. The 180mm macro stayed home (still haven't given it a fair test ). But I wanted to go light and fast = without tripod nor monopod.

I didn't want to get the "normal shots" that the throngs were getting. So I staked out 3 spots for about 2 hours and shot only a few individual specimens which happened to land in the "right" spots. Came out soaked in sweat and mist
