    Bird(s) of Italy

I was in Italy recently and spotted this fellow. Sorry the photos are not better but it is very illusive and felt lucky to get at least this. I thought the feathering on the back was unique, almost like a target. I have made an attempt to identify this fellow, hHowever, without success. It is about the size of a crow. Thought I would share.

I have never seen a bird like that before, it's feathering is certainly unique. Thanks for sharing.

    Cassie,

Thanks for commenting. I certainly have not seen a bird like this in southern California.

I am not a bird person either beyond I like looking at them. I have no clue what this is, but have never seen such feathering.

    Thanks for the comments though.

    Magpie.

Whilst in the UK all wild birds are protected under The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 by default, a number of species are granted exemption from the act (in other words, they're legal targets) because of their nuisance.
    Canada Goose
    Crow
    Collared Dove
    Great Black-backed Gull
    Lesser Black-backed Gull
    Herring Gull
    Jackdaw
    Jay
    Magpie
    Feral Pigeon
    Rook
    Wood Pigeon
The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (WCA 1981) provides that all wild birds are protected and cannot be killed or taken except under licence ... the Act also prohibits or controls certain methods of killing or taking except under licence.
