Rio Lagartos -- The Horseshoe Crabs

As we were polling along our guide backed up; reached down in the water for a while, and then pulled up a couple of these guys.

Did you know that the horseshoe crab has been around so long that it predates most species on this earth.

They are more closely related to spiders than crabs.

I have never seen or played with anything quite like these. We returned them back after tickling them for a while.

Sorry for not showing birds, but thanks for looking...

They get around. We had horseshoe crabs around in the cold waters off Massachusetts when I was growing up. I've always liked 'em.

Interesting. I've seen them in books, but I don't think it's a west coast think (could be wrong).
