Bird Id Part Ii

Back by popular demand !!!

A Prairie warbler from July. not my best by all means, but it's a perfect ID image ;)

Although I'm sure you'll know exactly what they are without even thinking but I thought I'd share anyway :D

cape barren goose, peafowl(since they are male... peacock) and an emu ;)

Now that we have our own forum, you can also post in your own thread if you'd like. WHEN this thread gets too big(like the original), we will start a new one before it gets errors.

I don't remember seeing this one in the original thread, but I could have missed it. Taken right here in SW Wisconsin.

Man that ring necked pheasants tail has seen better days huh :)

He is getting pretty deep there, so it looks! I actually took a series of images of one swimming(they don't swim either) . It tried to land on what it thought was land, but it was actually heavy weeds. Once it was caught , it flopped around swimming for 300 feet until it got back to land ;)

That was quite a sight to watch.

I photographed these birds in St. Louis a few days ago when the sun was going down. There was a flock of them. What are they?

The DEMONS of the avian word!

They are european starlings and I apsolutely hate them! They are nasty(like house sparrows) and are driving redheaded woodpeckers(amoung others) from their nest holes.

Since they nest earlier than other birds, they get there first and take over. The redheaded woodpecker is on the threatened list(if not endangered) in NJ due to them and developing.

Yeah I will move it once I get PJ to split it into atleast 2 pieces. That thread only works (due to size) when the server load is very low.

Lava, the 2nd shot of these is lovely. I like the detail you can see in the backlit wing.

Here's a new one for me...

Palm warbler :) That is a pretty good shot considering they are always moving!

This little sweety followed me around the lake all day. She was completely unafraid of me, and she even sat on my shoes.

Dude that appears to be a TRUE Muscovy duck! The angle is a hard one to ID from though.

Can you see enuf of these little ones to ID them?

Are you joking ? Give me a location of the nest( looks like an over hang, but is it near water.....) and I will give you a few birds it could be.

Seems it is mostlikely a eastern pheobe nest from my experience, but it would be close to water. Alsp mourning doves and robins nest anywhere too ;)

Well, you do have the right answer in your reply. The nest is sitting on top of a porch light on the back of a cabin we rented in northern WI. There is a lake about 50 yards from the cabin.

I was going thru some old pics looking for eagles and came across this guy.

I go away for a few days and come home to a new forum, here's a shot I took saturday down on the Gulf coast of Florida.

Here's another bird from Florida, I only had my 200mm lens with me so I had to crop this a bit. I wasn't planning on doing any birding down in Florida but I wish I had put my 2x extender in the bag, I won't make that mistake again.

The area I was in was pretty built up but I saw on a map a state park on the gulf so I took a short ride there. It was called Honeymoon Island State Park and in the park was a nature trail named The Osprey Trail and this was a very accurate name. There were several nests not far from the trail and many Osprey flying around. Here's one of the ones I was pretty close to.

ps. since I named the bird how about IDing its meal

Eastern Pheobe is my educated guess :)

PALM WARBLER :) 8 out of 10 wintering warblers are palms in florida.... so I have seen ;)

LOOKS like a Mullet to me.

These littel ones are confusing. Found him at the edge of woods leading to a salt marsh...

That's a mockingbird.... not that little ;)

Baby robins. The only reason I know is because mom and dad made sure we kept some distance from them. Made grilling out on the back deck very interesting. :)

Why thank you, but I must admit my skills are getting foggy from lack of birding this year.

This should be easy for you Paul...... I hear there are several in the woods below, so I'm going to spend some time there next week and see if I can get some GOOD sshots... unlike this one. :o
