The beauty of winter

Lately I've been doing a lot of winter hiking and early morning shoots. Many photographers hole up when the snow flies, but there is a lot of subtle and sometimes stark beauty to be found. Snow is never easy to shoot in, but I've been learning a lot while trying to convey the wonder I feel when I'm out there.

Yeah, I've taken landscapes and vistas, too, but sometimes the quiet, intimate moments of winter convey even more. Thoughts?? Ideas? Improvements?

My pick would be number 3, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I'm not as adventuresome as i once was in cold weather, may have something to do with age.

Enjoyed them all first to last - someday I am going to visit someplace where it snows.

Thanks much. Winter can be fun, you just have to get out and look for it. Now if we could just get another couple of good storms. The rain last week wasn't too helpful.

Thanks Paul...I took that one while my 2 friends were yakking it up. I almost missed it, too.

3rd is my fav, but they are all lovely. Agree about the feel of winter scenes. Do you notice too that quiet places seem even more quiet? Maybe it has something to do with the snow muffling everything.
Sometimes early or late in the day, I see snow that looks like it is sprinkled with diamonds. It seems impossible to capture it exactly as beautiful as it looks to the eye.
