    Bald Eagles

It was a pretty slow weekend for me this weekend. I had minor surgery on my right leg, so I'm somewhat incapacitated for a couple weeks (although I expect to be going full force by the weekend). I did stop by the Eagle's nest and see how things were going. I meant to get by the Heron Rookery as well, but just couldn't make that one.

Bald Eagle watching the sun set. This with the 40D on the 600 f/4L. I have found the 40D to be a more desirable option for long shots than the 1DsMII with the 2x TC on it.

Eaglets learing to get the air under their wings. Won't be long now before they fly off. Note the watchful eye of the parent!

Man the light quality on the first one is just exceptional. A 3/4 body shot of that b.e. of that shot would be a great poster.

I know there's a reason I don't post my bald eagle shots here

    Thanks!

Here are a couple alternative shots from the series. The first is just from a different angle, and later in the sunset. The second is the same post as above but with the pine needles removed:

I like the editing you did in the 2nd one. Great shot.
