    Bald Eagle feeding eaglet

    Hi folks,

This is my first post here. I have been lucky to be able to photograph a bald eagle nest 2 miles from my house. The photo posted here was taken thru a Orion ED80 telescope that has worked out remarkably well for this project,

Is it like digiscoping? Even those flight shots were taken that way? Wow ! How does it work exactly?

Hi, Dale, and welcome to the site.

AgingEye's question would be mine too. I've never seen digiscoped images of birds in flight.

Shot #81 is THE shot in your collection by the way. Awesome!

    Thanks for the warm welcome!

This is not digiscoping, the telescope is coupled directly to the body of the Canon 40D. The telescope is 600 mm f4.7 lens, but most of the images in the gallery a 2X barlow lens was added (2X T.C.). The total cost of the optics Orion 80ED ($500) and the barlow lens ($250) is about $750! You can't not get flight shots with with setup, though that said the the image of the male with the hornpout/catfish was landing into the nest and this flight shot did work since I was already focused in the nest.
