    Bald Eagle with Coot (warning)

Eaglets are now 7 weeks old at the nest, another 3 or 4 weeks until they fledge.

He stopped in the tree to rest, the Coot was still alive.

I'm told Coot is Eagle's favorite food. Nice shots.

Re: Bald Eagle with Coot (warning)

Not surprising that an eagle, hawk or large osprey would go after a coot or duck of some sort. I was surprised by the actions of a seagull 70 miles in from the sea at a local wildlife refuge near where I live. While I was shooting three gulls had been swooping over the large refuge and when they went by the migrating snow geese (3-5,000) there was a controlled sound of warning from the geese who were all feeding and sitting in the rice field that had been flooded.... Much to my surprise when I returned to one area where I was close enough to shoot I was able to see one of the gulls plucking the feathers off what looked like a mallard with a spoon bill. I am new here so I don't know whether the forum SW will allow me to post the pic yet or not but I was about 75 yards away on a very hazy day with a 200-500 tele....It appears that I don't have my own web site so I don't think that I can post it yet... The cut and paste method failed... any input will be appreciated.. Thanks

    Phil
