I took the long way to work this morning and watched the sun rise (or at least what little of a sunrise I could see behind all the storm clouds) over Attwater Prairie Chicken NWR. I only had time for a 30 minute stop but I did manage to see some interesting wildlife.
I was greeted by this young Red-tailed Hawk on my way in. I think he makes a nice gate keeper!
Other highlights were a large covey of Northern Bobwhite which I accidentally flushed before spotting them and a handful of curious sparrows including this Grasshopper Sparrow and LeConte’s Sparrow.
