    me too! The 50mm 2.8 is really nice, but you have to get darn close to the subject, which isn't easy with many insects. A decent macro in the 100mm range is much more desireable.

    Thanks all for the props! I haven't noticed a strong smell coming from these mushrooms, but insects are much more attuned to certain smells than we are. I'm working on an ID for them.

    Here's an adult assassin bug on shrooms. 100mm 'plastic fantastic' vivitar lens. The light wasn't very good & it was my first time using this lens (thanks for great price Adorama!). I had to use the onboard flash, which is pretty... meh.

    I'm hoping to get an external flash soon, as you really need the fill for macro work.
