    Artemis - One winged Owl

I like owls and have absolutely no luck in photographing them in the wild. Lots of dark tail feather shots and blurs over the years.

This was an event I was photographing and the owl is from:

    http://www.wildlifeprairiestatepark.org/

and was rescued after a car collision. She's lost most of her left wing. Current federal regulations would now require she be euthanized.

Artemis is pretty calm. I swear she posed for me a few times.

I'll get some 'full size' versions in my gallery later and there's a blog entry about this (with more photos) in the works for this evening.

    Here's a couple images.

    Yeah, that sucks.

    First, people injure it.

    Then, people kill it.

Yes we don't always appreciate what we do to nature. But there are some special ones like this lady. You can click on the photo and get to the blog about the event. That's an owl feather and a turkey vulture feather.
