Anyone care to guess what these are?

Saw them flying this morning after a night of thundershowers. Tracked their flight path back to this paving stone.

Well, they are mostlikely the reproductive members of an ant colony, but termites look close to that too at a distance.

I'm not sure if they are ants or termites, but for the last few years I've been seeing hordes of these after the first or second major rain and wind storm of the Spring.

well, what you are seeing is the reproductive members of the colony taking a flight to further the gene pool ;)

    Termites!

What I found amazing was, when I dug up the area where they were coming out of I found they were living in an acorn nut!

I could not believe that many termites came out of a nut!
