Anyone been to Kruger National Park, South Africa?

I plan on taking this trip in May. This will be my first safari and my dream vacation! Kruger is a country in itself. Has anyone been and if so can they provide any insight? Thanks!!!

Hi Frog - well I live here and sure, I have been to the park. It is a magnificent destination and contains a number of different biomes - so much so that one trip will only serve to whet the appetite.
If your main interest is in the big five then you would plan things differently from a birding expedition.
Why not post some of your preferences and will put you in touch with all the right people.

Of course Kruger is not the Be and End All of parks here either although its the biggest and best known.

Also bare in mind the fact that the 2010 Soccer World Cup is being hosted here in June/July and my understanding is that the parks are pretty much booked up by overseas visitors in advance of that event - so May might not be feasible - do you have bookings already?
