    Another butterfly

I've been seeing them everywhere all of a sudden, especially this one (swallowtail? I don't know...lol):

Emily, that one is really nice. Yes, I believe it's a swallowtail.

Nice job! I like the background and that "spikey" thing (I recall Almo posting an image of those things a while back - can't recall what they're called though).

Thanks Loupey! I remember that shot of Almo's too...I can't remember the name either though...snowdrop, maybe?

    Re: Another butterfly

I wish I could shots of butterflies like this. I love how the close frame creates almost an abstracted Rorschac (sp?) image. One can almost imagine the "missing" bits of the butterfly emulated in the host plant (right half) it's resting on. My mom has that plant in her garden, hoping to snap some butterfl. macros soon. Have you ever used an other type of commercial or home grown bait attractant?

    Thank you, nps!
This was taken at a local pond, actually...there's a bush/tree full of these flowers, and the butterflies and moths just are all over it.
I haven't tried growing any "butterfly" plants myself, but I may next season.
