    Alpha female.

Heading down to dinner last night we ran across a wolf jam, with the alpha female of the canyon pack heading down hill to a kill from the previous day, at china garden. We drove down to the kill and waited with the throngs of tourists to see if she would show up. Luckly she did. Unluckly since i was planning on going to dinner i only had a 16 gb card with pics from the day already on it, and a half dead battery. But i ended up getting a lot of great shots anyways.

heres a few ( i have a bunch more to edit through)

here she is spotted from the car

    on the kill

after she visited the kill and before she left back up the hill she stopped in the river for a few quick drinks

a quick stop under a tree

not much left to chew on

howling for the rest of the pack before she approached the kill by herself

the down side of eating furry animals

couldn't even wait to get in before she drank

Thanks for looking, sorry there are so many

Superb Series - they are magnificent animals. Must come to Northern Climes some time to see one in the flesh!
