Alas, the 50-500 OS had to be returned today

I made good use of my two weeks with it, but my rental came to an end today.

I have very few negatives and a lot of positives to say about it. I'm going to write up a review once I get the chance.

Back to my 300mm and 1.4tc for distance shots.

I look forward to your review.
I am very interested in this lens or last years model without the Image Stabilization feature.

Re: Alas, the 50-500 OS had to be returned today

So my first day without the 50-500... I saw a coopers hawk with a robin in its talons, muskrat, a ruby-crowned kinglet, sapsuckers, and a kingfisher (BTW, if you want to know what will make a mild mannered girl like me exclaim "HOLY F***", that'd be when I realize that grey and white bird across the pond is a kingfisher :P).

I think mother nature was doing this to laugh at me and my wimpy 300mm.

As much as you like shooting wildlife I sure hope you can purchase a 500mm some time in the future. I am considering sell my 70-300VR since I got the 300mmf4 prime I hardly ever us it. Maybe you could look through your lens collection and find one you don't need as much if a 50-500 was in you camera bag.

The 55-250mm is probably not going to get used much anymore, but probably won't get much for that used.

Right now I'm thinking about looking for the 150-500mm OS used. Even new it's about $500 cheaper.

We'll have to see whats in the bank come May's paycheck. Can't do it for April since I gotta pay the tax man this year.
