    Acorn Woodpeckers/Lost Pigeons

This time of year these guys come around into the Sierra foothills to eat the acorms still left in barren oak trees. Pics are not the greatest but it was fun watching them pick acorns off the oaks like kids in a candy store.

    Re: Acorn Woodpeckers/Lost Pigeons

Not sure what these pigeons were doing in the middle of the forest. They were following around the flock of woodpeckers. I have never seen pigeons anywhere remotely close to here in the last 7 years I have lived in the area. Maybe lost homing pigeons? Any ideas?
