    3 Off My List

3 more species were found last night on the other side of the city.

    #1 - Eastern Phoebe (i think)
    #2 - male Scarlet Tanager
    #3,4,5 - male Wood Duck

I realize the wood duck is probably pretty common in some parts but I have never seen one. Extremely shy and very alert.

The Scarlet Tanager was a fortunate find. It was getting late and I was leaving the woods when I spotted a flash of red. I knew it couldn't be a cardinal this deep in the woods so I stopped and waited. A male/female pair were courting. I couldn't get a shot of the female. Had to tip-toe through a large patch of poison ivy.

    Thanks for looking.
