Persevere with those web sites, folks...

A couple of days ago I got an email from an investment firm in the UK. Seems they happened upon my web site, loved my China images, and wanted to know if they could use one of the photos for the cover of their annual report.

So, after a few pleasant email exchanges, we agreed on a tidy little sum. It took me literally an hour to resize the image file for their output needs, burn it to a disc, print a label, and get the whole package ready for Global Express mailing.

It's nice surprises like this that remind me how important it is to have a web pressence for my photo business. Obviously, there is NO WAY I ever connect with these people without this amazing technology.

And if I may make a very LOW tech analogy, keep throwing those "bottled messages" in the water. You never know where they're gonna wash up on shore...

    Way to Go Steve!

    Right On Steve!

I agree it is important to have a web presence..
Through my site I have been contacted by two others seeking to good mtb photographs to theirs.
    Check out, http://www.dirtworld.com and http://www.morethandescent.com/morethan.html
Check ou the Pics N Vids section on dirtworld and check out the media section on morethandescent.

    Also...
If you check out the "articles" link on morethandescent.com, go to the Feb 2004 link and to the second article you'll see an interview on me!

    All because of my website.

Websites are good things to have.

    Great post Steve!

Congratulations Steve, but then this is to be expected from your website and your photography. Great that it has happened and hope it leads to more work and/or use of your photos.

    Congrats!!

This ties in with rights as well...lots of activity going on with our journalistic friends right now and contracts asking to sign away copyright. If you don't own the image anymore, you lose out on opportunities like these in the long run.

Knowing you you'll spend that "tidy sum" on a new microfiber cloth and some new bugs bunny pajamas...

    Congrats Steve!

    How exciting!

And while I read this, I am sitting here in teal pj's with sock monkeys all over them. Honestly. I love pajamas.
