I got this from a member of our web UI team this morning, and I thought that some of the folk here would find this usefull. I know nothing about Flex or flash, but this sounds like a good thing for those who do.

So it looks like Adobe is going to be releasing Flex as open source by the end of this year. Flex is basically a system designed to quickly create complex flash applications. Making it open source means it will be free, and that individuals will be able to write their own plugins/extensions for it that will further enhance it's abilities.
