Okay, so I know about ISO's, f-stops, exposure - etc.
I know with film, ISO was the film speed and also affected the grain on the photographs.
I'm confused really about ISO with digital cameras? There's no film speed... and ISO doesn't affect grain with digital...
So is it just a third factor to get the amount of light you want? I use it for instance, when I'm trying to get a certain shutter speed, I'll change the ISO faster or slower depending on what I need...
So do you set the ISO as often as you do shutter speed and aperature? I tend to use it when I have too much light, I'll change the ISO to 100. If I have too little, I'll use 800, etc.
But usually I leave it on around 400.
Still, not sure if there's any affect on the result...and I'm not sure what's actually happening inside the camera when I change it. With film, I understood ISO, changing ISO, pushing film, etc.
Sorry, I'm sure this is a remedial question... thanks for taking the time to read and/or respond.
