What Cameras < $500 will zoom during video recording?

I am pretty new to all this.

Got a Canon G9 and tried to make a little video yesterday and found that it will not zoom during video recording.

What might be a comparable camera in all respects - performance/price/features - that will do this?

Or perhaps even a 'lesser' camera because the object here is low quality short vids for children on youtube. Don't need any top quality aspects at all, I think...
